This week’s topic is very interesting because I just finished card sorting study with 5 users yesterday for one of my courses called interaction design methods. Card sorting is a design method which used to organize the design information to help designers to find useful information for future architecture rebuilding. Before the experiment, we will mess the cards we made in order to see how and the users think the organization of the cards should be. During the experiment, it’s very interesting to see why they sort these two together, why they feel confused and other categories that they think are missing in our cards.
From the study, I realize that how important the organization and categories are for designs. Because when designers create designs, it’s very easy to follow designers own paths for organization and categories the information which may be very different from users paths which may cause a gap between designers and users on the designs. During the design, I saw how the users felt struggle with the disorganized of the information which don’t make any sense to them when they try to match the cards. The design method can really help designers to deep understand what users really think which can be really helpful for our further design.
